Define warranty terms to specify the eligibility requirements and the entitlements you
provide to rectify issues with products. Specify the labor, parts, expenses, and exchange options
covered under the warranty term.
Required Editions
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer
Editions
User Permissions Needed
To create warranty terms:
Warranty Lifecycle Management permission set
From the App Launcher, find and select Warranty Terms.
Click New.
Enter a name.
Select Active.
For Effective Start Date, select Install Date,
Manufacture Date, or Purchase Date.
For Warranty Unit Of Time, select Days,
Months, Weeks, or
Years.
Enter the warranty duration.
Select a price book.
Select a unit of measure for usage covered.
Enter a value for usage covered.
For Labor Covered Unit Of Time, select Days,
Months, Weeks, or
Years.
For Expenses Covered Unit Of Time, select Days,
Months, Weeks, or
Years.
For Parts Covered Unit Of Time, select Days,
Months, Weeks, or
Years.
Enter a value for labor covered.
Enter a value for expenses covered.
Enter a value for parts covered.
Enter the description of exclusions associated with this warranty.
To indicate whether the warranty term can be transferred to a new owner, select
Transferable.
Click Save.
Example
The warranty manager at Neo Motors, a manufacturer, defines a warranty term to cover their Neo
Engine S95 product. She specifies the following details:
Warranty Term Name: Neo Engine S95 Standard Warranty
Active: True
Warranty Duration: 12
Effective Start Date: Install Date
Warranty Unit of Time: Months
Price Book: USA Dealers Price Book
Usage Covered: 2000
Usage Covered Unit of Measure: Hours
Warranty Type: Standard
Exchange Type: Return Exchange
Transferable: True
Labor Covered: 70%
Labor Covered Duration: 24
Labor Covered Unit of Time: Months
Expenses Covered: 50%
