          Parent Product (Product Group)

          Parent Product (Product Group)

Product group refers to a parent of the product or a product group. For a parent product, always use product Template with the type as product group.

          Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience in Performance, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions that have Consumer Goods Cloud enabled

Product or product groups are differentiated by using the record type and are mapped to the corresponding product templates. As a result, a product or product group must be assigned to a Product Template. Both product group and product are stored in the standard Product2 object.

A product or product group can only have one parent product, but each product group can contain multiple subgroups or multiple individual products at the lowest level.

          • Assign a Parent Product to a Product
Assign a Parent Product or Product Group to another product group or to a product level in the dynamic product hierarchy. Generally, product hierarchy information is fetched from an ERP system, but you can manually define parent products for products and product groups. To add a product to a hierarchy that is valid for a specific time, assign a parent to the product.
