          Scale Pricing Conditions

          Scale Pricing Conditions

Use scales to define pricing conditions for different quantities or value of products in an order. You can add scale conditions to a calculation schema. Based on the condition, the system determines the scale of an order item or order header (for example, freight surcharges) and applies the corresponding rate.

          Scale Types

You can add these types of scale conditions:

          • From Scale (a scale rate is applied when the scale base is between the scale value and the next scale value)
          • To Scale (a scale rate is applied when the scale base is up to the scale value)
          • Graduated Scale (rate is applied based on various scale ranges defined)

          Scale Base

You can define scales based on different scale sizes (scale base) in the pricing condition template:

          • Amount
          • Quantity
          • Weight
          • Volume

          Considerations

Points to keep in mind when working with scale conditions:

          • When the scale base is quantity, weight, and volume, the scale rates for From and To scales can be defined as Price, Percentage, Amount, Flat Rate, and Free Items. You can’t define scale rate as Price when the scale base is amount.
          • You can define graduated scales when the scale rate is price, percentage, or amount and the scale base is a quantity. When the scale base is the amount, you can define the scale rate only as a percentage. You can’t use a scale base as weight and volume for a graduated scale.
          Example
Example From and to scales can provide percentage discounts or flat rate discounts based on the number of units ordered while a graduated scale can provide discounts based on the total value of an order. Here’s an example of each scale type.

          From Scale (scale base quantity)

          ScaleScale ValueRate
          1 20 -3 %
          2 40 -4 %
          3 60 -5 %

When the product quantity is from 20 to 39, a discount of 3% is applied. When the product quantity is from 40 to 50, a discount of 4% is applied. If the product quantity is 60 or more, then no discount is applied. When the product quantity is less than 20 then no discount is applied.

          To Scale (scale base quantity)

          ScaleScale ValueRate
          1 20 $4.99
          2 40 $5.99
          3 60 $6.99

When the product quantity is up to 20, a discount of $ 4.99 is applied. When the product quantity is from 21 to 40, a discount of $5.99 is applied, and a discount of $6.99 is applied for the quantity from 41 to 60. When the product quantity is greater than 60, no discount is applied.

          Graduated Scale (scale base quantity)

          Amount: $1780

          ScaleScale ValueRate
          1 $1.60 -2.75 %
          2 $99.00 -3.50 %

For the first $1600, a discount of 2.75% ($44) is applied, resulting in a total value of $1736. For the remaining $180 (1780-1600) a discount of 3.5 % ($6.3) is applied. This discount of 3.5% is applied to the amount after applying the first scale condition discount ($1736 - $6.3), resulting in a total of $1729.70.
