          Explicit Start Visit Configurations

To make sure users start a visit and that at any point in time, there’s only one visit in progress for the users on the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app, use these configuration settings in the Visit Start related section in Visit Template.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Consumer Goods Cloud is enabled

          Context

When explicit start visit settings are turned on, users can start a visit from the Consumer Goods Cloud Offline mobile app. For retail visits, users can tap Start Visit on the Store Cockpit. For Direct Store Delivery visits, users can tap Start Visit on the Delivery Cockpit. They can also use the Start Visit option in the context menu for the visit on Your Visits card or the daily or weekly calendar.

After a user starts a visit, the visit status changes from Planned to In progress. A user can identify all open visits through the in-progress visit icon on the daily calendar or the Your Visits card on the Delivery Cockpit.

Start Visit Required to Check In Determines if a user must start a visit before modifying or executing the visit. Users can review all aspects of the visit, including activities, surveys, or order history. They can always modify visit notes and manage customer tasks to prepare for the visit. Visit Template Visit Start related This setting is applicable only when visits aren't canceled or completed.
Show Read Only Visit Information Determines if the user sees an information message that states that the visit hasn’t started and is in read-only mode. Visit Template Visit Start related This setting is applicable to visits only if the Start Visit Required to Edit setting is turned on.
Limit to One Visit In Progress Prevents users from simultaneously executing multiple visits. Visit Template Visit Start related This setting is applicable to visits only if the Start Visit Required to Edit setting is turned on.

          Considerations for Explicit Start Visit

          • In tour-based visits, regardless of the Visit Start related configurations in the Visit Template object, users must explicitly begin a visit.
          • For Retail Execution visits, the Start Visit option on the Consumer Goods Cloud offline mobile app appears only when Start Visit Required to Check In is enabled in the visit template.
          • Only as the responsible user and not the supervisor can start a visit.
          • Time tracking during a visit continues even if the user moves away from the Store Cockpit or the visit page to review the product master, open a report, or open a third-party planogram app. For visits that don’t have the Start Visit Required to Check In setting turned on, the visit start time resets each time the user visits the store cockpit.
          • Visits on the Consumer Goods Cloud desktop app don't consider the explicit start visit settings. Users can complete a visit on the desktop app, however the GPS location isn’t captured for the visit even when the start visit and capture geolocation settings are enabled in the visit template.
          • When Visit Start related configurations are turned on in Visit Template, users can complete a visit on the mobile app only if the visit is in progress.
