Consumer Goods Cloud Synchronization Limits and Guidelines

Consumer Goods Cloud Synchronization Limits and Guidelines

For data sync performance, create ad hoc visits or orders to download customer data on demand and sync foundational objects. Make sure sales reps have sufficient data in their Consumer Goods (CG) Cloud offline mobile app during offline visits.

          Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions where Consumer Goods Cloud is enabled.

Follow the guidelines for optimal sync performance and scalability when creating sync queries or using CG Cloud offline mobile app.

          Product Area Guideline

          Synchronize Foundational objects

Optimize sync rules in such a way that only necessary objects are always synchronized to the mobile device, independent of planned visits.

Include these objects in your dataset for sync:

          • Product master
          • Customer master key information, for the customers that the sales rep manages through org unit or substitution. Sales reps must download customer master key data within a time range of 14 days before or after the current day.
          • User settings
          • Business templates

          Synchronize visit-related objects

          • Sync only the data that your sales reps need to execute their planned visits fully offline.
          • Download all the data related to a visit for the current, past, and next 3 days. This includes the customer’s full information, activities, prices, promotions, items in your collection, sales folders, and more.
          • Configure the CallOrderDistributionReOrgBatchbatch to determine the data to be downloaded.

Ad hoc visits to download additional customer data

To get additional customer data in the CG Cloud offline mobile app, consider creating ad hoc visits or orders through the offline mobile app instead of modifying the sync rules to download large data sets.

After you create ad hoc customer visits or orders in the CG Cloud offline mobile app, sales reps must use the app in online mode to allow automatic download of all the visit or order related data. When sales reps have the complete visit or order related data, they can execute the ad hoc visits fully offline.

Synchronize historical data on the offline mobile app

An extended visit history negatively impacts on performance and scalability for sales reps. Limit synchronizing data to the last 3 historical visits and orders for each account to the offline mobile app.

Synchronization frequency on offline mobile app

          • Synchronize using the First Sync of the Day (FSOD) option in your CG offline mobile app every day before the execution of the first visit.
          • Use timer or event-based synchronization to distribute the system load over the day to avoid peak upload situations at the end of the day.
          • Synchronize data every day before closing the day.

          Synchronize Attachments

          • Synchronize in advance only those attachments that are always required. For example, product, store, or contact images and the attachments that are essential for an offline visit.
          • When sales reps access an attachment the first time in their offline mobile app, they get the option to download the attachments on demand. Sales reps can download other attachments in online mode and access them offline later.

          Data Synchronization for Supervisors

          • Supervisors don’t always need all dependent data in the offline app for all the accounts from their team. Examples of dependent data are pricing conditions, promotions with hurdles, sales folders, attachments, historic orders, and historic surveys. Supervisors can download dependent data on demand when accessing visits in their offline mobile app.
          • Optimize sync rules for supervisors to synchronize only key segments for the accounts and visits without dependent data for a short time, such as one or two weeks by default. An extended visit history has a negative impact on performance and scalability for supervisors.
          • Add supervisor-specific sync rules so that supervisors sync only essential data that’s required for team review and monitoring. For example, introduce a sync rule for the supervisor persona to synchronize accounts and visit header but exclude full pricing conditions and assortments.
          • Supervisors should use the desktop app for reviewing extended team data. For example, to review or report the visit history for the last six months for analytical purposes and planning.

The typical supervisor persona for the CG Cloud offline mobile app oversees a team of 7-10 sales reps, each handling up to 300 accounts. Supervisors are also responsible for their team's organizational unit and can sync up to 3,000 accounts to the offline mobile app for team monitoring and support.
