Classifying pricing-relevant conditions into calculation groups reduces the
configuration effort as you can maintain calculation groups instead of maintaining each
condition. You can configure calculation groups only for order item conditions.

You can set the calculation group that is used in the calculation schema in the order item
template. There’s only a one-to-one relationship between an order item and a group.
You can configure calculation steps without setting restrictions for calculation groups. The
step can be restricted to one or more calculation groups where the calculation step applies to
all the item templates of the calculation groups of the step. If a calculation group isn't
selected, then this step is valid for all item templates.
Example You have four calculation groups such as Group A, Group B, Group C, and Free Goods. Add
a calculation step in the calculation schema for the pricing condition that applies 50%
discounts to order items from Groups A and B. Add another pricing condition that applies a
100% discount to all the order items from the Free Goods calculation group as the customers
must not be charged for free items.
