Create an Inventory Control Template
To define the properties of an inventory including its unit of measure, and whether the inventory is relevant to manufacturers or customers, create inventory control template records. To create an inventory or a quota for a product by using a specific inventory control template, assign the product to the template. The assignment is valid for a specific period. Cash floats aren’t assigned to any product.

Based on the meta type selected while creating inventory control templates, the template can be of three types: Inventory, Quota, and Cash Float.
- From the App Launcher, find and select Inventory Control Templates, and then click New.

Select the record type that you want:
- Inventory
- Quota
- Cash Float
- Click Continue.

Provide these details:
Field Description Identification Inventory Control Template Name Name of the inventory control template. Record Type Inventory control template type. Active Indicates if a template is active. You can use only active templates to create inventories. Description Description of the template. Sales Org Sales org of the inventory control template. You can edit this field only when you create an inventory control template. Description Description Language 1/2/3/4 Description of the inventory control template in the languages configured for the sales org. Policy Inventory Control Measure Unit of measure defined for the inventory. The options are:
- Qty/Consumer Unit
- Qty/Order Unit
- Value/Domestic Currency
Period Type Applicable period for the inventory record. The options are:
- Year
- Quarter
- Month
- Week
- Segment
- Period
- Sales Cycle
Customer Policy Indicates whether the inventory is customer relevant. This option is available if you select the record type as Inventory or Quota. The options are:
- One: Inventory is customer relevant
- None: Inventory isn’t customer relevant
Period Policy Indicates whether a period assignment is required for the inventory. Product Policy Applicable product policy for the inventory. This option is available if you select the record type as Inventory or Quota. The available options are:
- One
- None
User Policy Indicates whether the inventory is user relevant. The options are:
- One: Inventory is user relevant.
- None: Inventory isn’t user relevant.
Vehicle Policy Applicable vehicle policy for the inventory. This option is available if you select the record type as Cash Float. The options are:
- One
- None
Tour Policy Tour policy for the inventory. The options are:
- One
- None
- Save your changes.
