Provide Appointment Statuses and
Status
Categories
Enable users to track the status of their appointments with customized statuses and
status categories. You can add status values that are meaningful to your organization in the
Status Values Picklist. Map the picklist vales to status categories to help users manage their
appointments better.

Note In the Service Appointment object, ensure that the field-level security of the Source
System Identifier, Status Reason, Source System, and Parent Record Type fields is set to visible
for all profiles.
Statuses are grouped into four categories: Scheduled, Cannot Complete, Canceled, and
Completed. Each status must map to one of the predefined status categories. If the status
categories make sense to your users, you can reuse the status categories as statuses.

Meaning
Scheduled
The appointment slot is confirmed.
Dispatched
This value isn’t relevant for Intelligent Appointment Management.
In Progress
This value isn’t relevant for Intelligent Appointment Management.
Cannot Complete
The slot is no longer available.
Completed
The appointment is completed.
Canceled
The provider or the patient has canceled the appointment.
This field is required.
The user can cancel an appointment only if status value is configured for the Canceled
category.
Not Started
This value isn’t relevant for Intelligent Appointment Management.
None
This value isn’t relevant for Intelligent Appointment Management.
You can have multiple values for a category, but multiple categories can’t map to the same
status value.
From Setup, click the Object Manager tab.
Click Service Appointment, then click Fields &
Relationships.
Click Status.
In the Status Picklist Values section, select New, to create an
appointment status value.
Enter a value for Label. For example, Delayed.
Enter the same value for API Name.
Select a status category.
Save your changes.
Repeat these steps for each status your users need.
