Assign user permissions and object permissions, set the Tab visibility, define picklist
values for the role field, and configure sharing settings. Create hierarchy types and customize
record pages to view hierarchies.
Set Tab Visibility and Assign Object Permissions for Flexible Hierarchies To make sure that Flexible Hierarchies are available to your users in App Launcher, set the Tab visibility. To manage hierarchy types and hierarchies, assign object permissions for the Flexible Hierarchy, Flexible Hierarchy Node, and Flexible Hierarchy Node Relation objects.
Configure Sharing Settings for Flexible Hierarchies Your organization-wide default sharing settings give you a baseline level of access for each object and help you to extend that level of access to your users.
Configure Roles to Create Flexible Hierarchies A role signifies the specific functionality of a node within the hierarchy. Add the picklist values for the Role field on the Flexible Hierarchy Node object.
Create Hierarchy Types A hierarchy type defines a structural schema for your data. Define this schema first, as it provides the framework to build a flexible hierarchy. Create a hierarchy type by specifying the nodes, and the relationships between these nodes.
Set Hierarchy Status to Draft To prevent your users from viewing incomplete or work-in-progress hierarchies, as a hierarchy admin, you can set the hierarchy's status to Draft.
Validate Flexible Hierarchies If a hierarchy is valid, it indicates that the structure has passed all integrity checks and is ready for production use. The valid status controls visibility and data integrity as the hierarchy evolves. To enable viewing and subsequent updates to a hierarchy, validate it.
Review Hierarchy Validation Errors and Download the Error Report Review validation errors for your flexible hierarchies to ensure your data is accurate and complete. Inspect the Flexible Hierarchy Validation Job Run and Job Run Item records to view specific failures and affected hierarchies. Download a detailed error report to get a comprehensive view of validation errors.
