          Set Up Asset Scheduling for Intelligent Appointment Management

          Provide schedulers a way to efficiently book rooms, equipment, and other assets exclusively or along with providers. Create the required asset records, set up your back-end scheduling system for asset scheduling, and add asset scheduling to the Intelligent Appointment Management console.

          1. If you haven’t already done so, add the Asset Type field to the asset page layout.
          2. For a user that adds bookable and non-bookable assets, enable field-level security for the Active and Available to Schedule asset type fields.
            1. In Object Manager, find and select Asset Types.
            2. In Fields & Relationships, select Active.
            3. Click Set Field-Level Security.
            4. Select the Visible checkbox for the user profile that adds bookable and non-bookable assets.
            5. Save your changes.
            6. In Fields & Relationships, repeat the steps to make the Available to Schedule field visible to users.
          3. Create asset type, asset, and work type asset type records.
            1. From the App Launcher, find and select Asset Types. Click New. In an asset type, set up a relationship between a type and a subtype by specifying a parent asset type. Also specify whether assets of this type can be scheduled. For example, for asset types such as rooms, select Available to Schedule. For asset types such as wheelchairs and canes, keep Available to Schedule deselected. Select the Active checkbox.
            2. From the App Launcher, find and select Assets. In an asset, for Account, enter the facility associated with the asset. Specify an asset type.
            3. From the App Launcher, find and select Work Type Asset Types. In a work type asset type, link a work type to an asset type.
            For example, to represent an MRI machine:
            • Create an asset type called MRI. Select Available to Schedule and Active.
            • Create another asset type called Closed MRI. For Parent Asset Type, enter MRI. Select Available to Schedule and Active.
            • Create an asset called MRI Machine 1. For Account, enter the facility associated with the asset. For Asset Type, enter Closed MRI.
            • Create a work type asset type called MRI Imaging-Closed MRI that associates the MRI Imaging work type with the Closed MRI asset type.
            After you set up these records, when you schedule an MRI imaging appointment, you can filter for MRI or Closed MRI asset types. The asset filters in the Intelligent Appointment Management console show up to two levels of asset types.
          4. If you use Salesforce Scheduler, set up assets for scheduling.
            1. Create and assign shifts to assets.
            2. In Object Manager, in the Service Resource page layout, add the Asset field.
            3. Set up assets as service resources. For Resource Type, select Asset. Select the Active checkbox.
          5. If you use an external scheduling system, create identifiers for assets and customize asset type categories to align with the scheduling system.
            1. In an identifier, for Parent Record, select the asset. For ID Value, specify the identifier for the asset. For Source System, specify your EHR system.
            2. In Object Manager, in the Asset Type object, add Category Picklist values that align to Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards. Then confirm that your assets have the correct category value specified.
          6. Add asset scheduling to the Intelligent Appointment Management console.
            1. Open a page with the Intelligent Appointment Management component, such as a person account, clinical service request, or task page. Click the Setup icon, and then select Edit page.
            2. Click the tab used for appointment scheduling, and then click the Healthcare Appointment Scheduler component.
            3. Select either Assets or Providers and Assets.
