Configure Remote Site Settings for the NPPES Registry Site
Before any apex callout, visualforce page, or javascript code using XmlHttpRequest can
access the NPPES API, the API must be registered in the Remote Site Settings page, or the callout
fails. Salesforce prevents calls to unauthorized network addresses.

Add a new remote site
Customize Application or Modify All Data
To register the NPPES NPI registry:
From Setup, enter Remote Site Settings in the Quick Find box, then
select Remote Site Settings.
Click New Remote Site.
For the Remote Site Name, enter a descriptive name such as NPPESRegistryIntegration.
Ensure that the Active checkbox is selected (If not, select it).
Save your changes.
