Use Flow Builder to automate your referral creation process. With the Create Referral
Flow, your users provide relevant patient, provider, and facility details, and the flow creates
related referral records for them. Add the Create Referral flow to the patient account record page
and the Clinical Service Request detail page. The flow is also available as a quick action for
provider search results.

To open, edit, or create a flow in Flow Builder:
Manage Flow
The Create Referral flow creates clinical service requests, clinical service request details,
and document links. The flow also creates or updates the related patient account record.
Prerequisite data for the flow includes provider records and code set bundles for referral
reason codes. You can also select a patient's member plans, conditions, and diagnoses if this
data already exists for the patient.
If your referral management process requires different steps, add or remove elements from the
Create Referral flow. Health Cloud supports only one active version of the Create Referral
flow.
From Setup, enter Flows in the Quick Find box, select
Flows, and then click Create Referral.
The elements for a basic create referral flow appear in the builder.
Review the flow’s elements and attributes. Update the elements only if you want to
customize the flow further. If you do, follow steps 3-7. Otherwise, skip to step 8.
Click Save As New Flow.
Enter a label, API name, and description for the clone, and then click
Save.
Drag any additional elements you want to use onto the canvas.
Select each of the flow elements and configure the screen properties to suit your business
requirements.
Save and activate your flow.
From the patient account record page, add a quick action that triggers the Create Referral
flow. Optionally, add the quick action to the Clinical Service Request detail page.
You can add a quick action for the flow by creating a new action (with action type of
Flow) from the Buttons, Links, and Actions page in the relevant object, and then adding it to
the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section of the page layout for the
object. If you're using Action Launcher, you can include the quick action in an Action Launcher
Deployment record.
If you use the Crisis Support Center Management app, you can add the Create Referral
action to the Bed Search component.
When users create a referral from a page with patient or provider information, the flow
prepopulates with that information.
