Configure hierarchical limit processing for a root product so that a claim payment on a
child coverage complies with and consumes parent and higher-level limits in the coverage
hierarchy. To turn on hierarchical limit processing, create a record for the root product in the
InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule Tooling API object.
Before you start, make sure that the coverage hierarchy in the root product has parent-child
relationships between coverages.
You configure hierarchical limit processing independently for each root product, and different
root products can have different settings. For example, you can configure hierarchical limit
processing for a Medical Insurance product by creating an InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule record.
However, if you don't create an InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule record for an Auto Insurance
product, the default limit processing applies to the product: a claim payment for a child
coverage consumes limits for that coverage and the root coverage.
To create an InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule record for a root product, define a POST request
for the /sobjects/InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule resource.
Use this URL for the resource:
https://domain.my.salesforce.com/services/data/vXX.X/tooling/sobjects/InsPlcyLimitConsumptionRule/
In the URL, domain is your org’s My Domain login URL and
vXX.X is the API version number.
In the request body, provide these fields:
Field
Description
DeveloperName
A unique identifier for this configuration record. For example,
"Commercial_Property_Root_Rule."
MasterLabel
A descriptive label for the record. For example, "Commercial Property Root
Consumption Rule."
PolicyProductId
The ID of the root product to configure hierarchical limit processing for.
IsConsumptionEnabled
Set to true to turn on hierarchical limit rollup.
Send the POST request.
A successful response returns the ID of the new consumption rule
record.
