Einstein Copilot for Insurance:

Is a trusted, natural language, semi-autonomous conversational AI assistant.

Is customizable and is built on standard copilot actions that are ready to use. The actions that you assign to your copilot define what your copilot can do.

Interacts with a large language model (LLM) such as ChatGPT.

Is integrated with the Einstein Trust Layer, which is a secure AI architecture that is natively built into the Salesforce platform. The Einstein Trust Layer detects and masks sensitive data to prevent it from being exposed to a LLM. The copilot also respects controls such as licenses and user permissions, so you can limit the data that your users access and the actions they execute. A key feature of your prompt-to-response journey through the Einstein Trust Layer is zero data retention. Third-party LLMs never retain your data.

Uses the user prompt and trusted Salesforce data to generate relevant and accurate responses.

The Einstein Copilot reasoning engine orchestrates how a copilot launches actions during a conversation to accomplish a task for the user. This reasoning engine is also called the planner service.
When a CSR opens the Einstein panel and enters a summarization request into the copilot, the planner service works with the LLM behind the scenes to carry out the request. The planner service:

Interprets the user’s request and determines their intent.

Dynamically builds a plan to fulfil the user’s request.

Finds and launches the right action or set of actions to fulfil the request.
The copilot uses the Summarize Record standard action to generate a formatted summary by using pre-built Record Summary Prompt Templates for Insurance. The prompt template is enriched with trusted data from Salesforce through template-triggered prompt flows.
