          Semantic Search

Semantic search reduces “no results found” pages, lowers bounce rates, and improves conversions by interpreting search intent. It matches product names, descriptions, categories, and dynamic attributes based on the words that buyers enter in the search bar.

By default, Product Discovery uses keyword-based search, which only matches exact terms. If users don’t know the exact product name or type it differently, they can miss relevant results.

Semantic search improves product discovery by:

          • Interpreting synonyms (for example, “power” also finds products described with “energy”).
          • Handling variations and typos (for example, “wotches” matches “watches”).
          • Searching across product names, descriptions, and attributes.
          • Reducing “no results found” pages and increasing relevant results.

Semantic search supports up to 15 searchable fields. Three fields are fixed — product name, product description, and category name. The remaining 12 can be configured from the searchable fields in Index and Search Configuration, including dynamic attributes.

Semantic search helps users find what they’re looking for even when they don’t know the exact product name or spelling. This reduces abandoned searches, surfaces relevant alternatives, and makes the shopping experience more intuitive.
