Migrate Asset Data to Revenue Management

Migrate Asset Data to Revenue Management

Migrate existing asset data to Revenue Management by either generating assets from historical initial-sale orders, or by directly creating asset data. We recommend that you start by migrating orders so that a complete history of all the prior purchases is available in Revenue Management. Having this history enables accurate amendments, renewals, cancellations, and billing after the previous order system is decommissioned.

          • Assign User Permission to Manage Asset Data
Before users can create and manage asset data in Revenue Management, turn on Revenue Cloud and assign your users the required permission.
          • Method 1: Generate Assets from Historical Orders
The recommended method for asset data migration to Revenue Management is to create, backdate, and activate historical initial-sale orders. With this method, the system generates asset data through standard Revenue Management flows, ensuring the highest level of data integrity.
          • Method 2: Create Assets Directly
Directly creating asset records, bypassing historical orders, is an alternative approach. Use this method only when recreating transactional history isn't possible or when specific business constraints prevent the use of orders.
