Default Contract Object State Definition
The contract Object State Definition determines the contract lifecycle and controls which actions are available. It’s a list of valid states for a contract document record. The object state definition is identified using Reference Object, Reference Field, Additional Field, and Additional Field Value fields.

Only users assigned ContractMgmtAdmin permission sets can access, create, edit, and delete the contract Object State Definition.

Users assigned ContractMgmtRuntime and ContractMgmtRuntimePC permission sets have read-only access to the contract Object State Definition.
Here are the details of the default 'Contract Lifecycle Management' Object State Definition:

The ‘Contract Lifecycle Management’ object state definition is mapped to the ‘default’ contract type. The contract type value is derived by the record type that the user selects during contract creation. The object state definition is identified using these four fields:
- Reference Object
- The object that is referenced in the Object State Definition. For Salesforce Contracts, select Contract as the reference object.
- Reference Field
- The object field within the reference object that is referenced in the Object State Definition. For Salesforce Contracts, select Status as the reference field.
- Additional Field
- The setup setting that is mapped to the object state definition. For Salesforce Contracts, select ContractType as the additional field.
- Additional FIeld Value
- Name of the contract type that is mapped to the object state definition. For Salesforce Contracts, the default ContractType is Default.
- Active
- The Active checkbox is selected if the contract Object State Definition is active.
