Use Case: Extract Key Terms from Contracts Using AI
As a Sales Representative reviewing an agreement with Cloud Kicks, use AI-powered contract tools to locate the MSA, extract renewal, pricing, and termination terms, ask clarifying questions, and share a summary with your team for internal alignment.
Before You Begin
Make sure that Agentforce for Contracts is configured in your org and that you have permission to access the Contract Search UI and contract records.
Goals
- Quickly locate relevant contract documents using natural language search
- Generate contract summaries to surface renewal, termination, and pricing terms
- Ask clarifying questions to uncover obligations or red flags
- Share a business-friendly summary via email for internal collaboration
Search Contracts
You’ve identified the customer and now need to locate their agreement. Use a natural language search to quickly retrieve the contract record.
- On the contract list page, use the Search Contracts option.
- In the search bar, enter a natural language prompt such as: “Pull up all agreements with Cloud Kicks where the delivery schedule is under 7 days and there are terms which protect against unforeseen circumstances.”
- Select the most relevant result from the list.
Summarize a Contract
To avoid reading the full contract, you can instantly generate a summary highlighting the key business terms.
- Summaries for the first two contract records are generated by default.
- Use the Summarize this option to generate a summary for other records.
The summary highlights key information such as:
- Parties involved and contract duration
- Renewal and early termination conditions
- Discount commitments and pricing structures
- Other important clauses based on your query
Example summary output:
This agreement outlines a 2-year term with an automatic 1-year renewal, payment milestones tied to delivery schedules, a 30-day termination notice period, and a 10% volume-based discount for purchases exceeding 1,000 units. The agreement is governed by California law.
Ask Follow-Up Questions
Want to clarify specific sections? Use natural language to query the contract and get AI-generated answers.
- Use the Ask Contract Questions option next to the relevant contract (when a contract agent is configured).
- Ask questions in natural language. Examples:
- What does the delivery clause state?
- Is there a force majeure clause?
- What are the timelines or penalties for late delivery?
- Who is responsible for delivery failures?
Review AI-generated responses and take note of any action items or risks.
Share the Insights via Email
Summarize your findings and align with internal stakeholders by sending the details via email.
If your org uses the Draft or Revise Email action, you can send the summary and key insights directly from the agent interface. This step is optional.
