          Work with Marketing Flows

          Work with Marketing Flows

Flows are an independent object in Salesforce and they have a wide variety of use cases. In marketing, campaigns and flows are designed to work together to organize marketing efforts, automate content distribution, and report outcomes.

          Required Editions

Available in: Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Marketing Cloud Next Growth or Advanced Edition

A single campaign can contain multiple flows, but each flow relates to only one campaign. Changing the association for an active flow causes reporting and data stream issues. To change the campaign associated with a draft flow, update the Associated Record field on the flow record.

When a flow is related to a campaign, they share information. Keep these considerations in mind before you make changes.

          • If there are multiple versions of a flow, only one version can be active. A paused flow is considered active.
          • If there are multiple versions of a flow, the related campaign record shows the most recently activated version. If an old flow version appears on your campaign, activate the latest version, and then check the campaign again.
          • If a flow is related to a campaign, the flow inherits the sharing settings for the campaign. When you delete a campaign, the sharing settings for each related flow revert to the flow record’s defined sharing rules. If no sharing rules are defined, the flow becomes private and is accessible only to the owner, Salesforce admins, and anyone with View All Non-Setup Flows or Manage Flow permissions.
          • If you delete a campaign or flow, you remove the relationship but the other record remains intact.
          • Add Structure and Logic to a Marketing Flow
A marketing flow contains elements that represent certain actions along a customer's journey. To create the structure, you can add, remove, and move elements around the flow canvas. To customize the customer experience more, you can also add logic, such as branching paths and exit rule filters.
          • Pause and Edit a Marketing Flow
To make changes or fix issues with an active flow, pause the flow first.
          • Share Standalone Marketing Flows
Marketing flows that are related to a campaign inherit the campaign’s sharing settings. If a flow isn’t related to a campaign or the campaign is deleted, the flow is private by default. You can share standalone flows categorically with sharing rules, or share an individual flow manually.
          • Comparison of Marketing-Oriented Flow Types
With Marketing Cloud Next, you can create several types of flows that help you implement your marketing use cases. When you add flows to your campaigns, it’s important to understand the abilities and usage considerations for each flow type.
          • Flow Status Reference
The tasks that are available or restricted on a flow at a particular time are defined by its status. Individual flow occurrences generate their own statuses, which can help you understand why something didn't occur as expected.
          • Flow Builder Features and Elements for Marketers
Flow Builder is a robust tool for creating automation solutions to business challenges faced by a variety of industries and roles. Marketers have access to portions of Flow Builder that are helpful for accomplishing marketing jobs.
