Use a DLT Template in an SMS Message

In MobileConnect and Journey Builder, use a DLT template in an Outbound message to simplify the campaign creation process.

          Important
Important Contact your Account Executive to enable this feature.
          1. In MobileConnect, click Create Message.
          2. Select the message template.
          3. Name the message.
          4. Select long code to send to India.
          5. Select a From Name.
A From Name sends your message to a customer’s mobile device as if your business is one of the customer’s contacts. The recipient can’t directly respond to a message from a From Name.
          6. Select Opt-Out Availability, if applicable.
          7. Select the send method.
          8. Select the audience or create a list.
          9. Add the message that you want to send.
            1. From the outbound message dropdown, select how you want to search for the message.

While running your campaigns, ensure the uploaded template status is up-to-date.

            2. Select the message from the search results.
            3. In the outbound message preview, update only the variable instances {#var#}, and don’t change the rest of the message.
Adding or removing characters, including spaces and punctuation, can cause a message to fail.
          10. Select Automatically Shorten Links, and the method you want to use. If you’re using the Engagement shortener, select Track Clicks to track the user engagement metrics.
            Note
Note If you're using the Engagement shortener in India, see Considerations for Using Engagement Shortener in India.
The Engagement shortener uses AWS to shorten links in messages and supports dynamic URLs.
The Engagement shortener only shortens links that begin with http:// or https://. Don’t use special characters at the beginning of the links. Ensure there’s space before the URL unless the link is at the beginning of the message.
If the message body includes an AMPscript, you can’t select Bitly.
          11. Click OK.
          12. Enter the required information, and click Next.
          13. Review the message information.
          14. Set the delivery date and time.
