Include Only Opted-in Contacts in a Filtered List

Just because a contact is active doesn’t mean that they have opted in to receive MobilePush notifications.

Contacts receive a push message when they are active in Marketing Cloud Engagement and meet the criteria for the list you're sending to.

An active contact is not automatically opted in to receive notifications for your app. For example, if you build a filtered list where status = active and platform = iPhone OS, the initial list includes contacts who won’t receive the message because they’re not opted in. MobilePush doesn’t send to devices that have opted out. Therefore, the number of active contacts may not be the same as your sendable contact list.

To ensure that you only include the contacts who are opted in to receive your app’s messages, build your filtered list using the following information:

          • Opt In Status: Opted In
          • Platform: [Include either iPhone OS or Android OS]
          • Application: [Your app name]
          • Status: Active
