Create a Nested Segment for Marketing Cloud Personalization
A nested segment is a segment that excludes or includes at least one existing segment. You can combine segments into a nested segment by selecting at least one existing segment to use as an exclusion or inclusion.
Required Editions
Permissions Needed
To create a segment:
A role with Segments Create/Edit permissions
In the Audiences section of the main navigation, select User Segments | User Segments.
Click New Segment.
Enter a Segment Name that describes its purpose.
Select Gears from the Select Category dropdown.
Select Audience | Segment from the Select Rule dropdown.
Select includes or excludes.
Select one or more segments from the Select segments dropdown.
Click Save.
Example
Example A—You can create a nested segment that includes
users whose favorite product is running shoes and excludes users that have
purchased running shoes in the past month.
Example B—You can create a nested segment that includes
users that belong to your loyalty program and excludes users that haven’t logged
in for one year.
