Quick Start: Set Up WhatsApp for Account Engagement
This Quick Start guide covers the steps that are required to set up WhatsApp for Marketing Cloud Account Engagement. It outlines the most direct implementation, to get your team get up and running.
Required Editions
| Available in: Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited editions with Marketing Cloud Account Engagement Growth, Advanced, and Premium with Marketing Cloud Growth or Advanced edition. |
Before you start, complete these required steps.
Install the WhatsApp Package
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Marketing Cloud, and then select Assistant Home.
- Under Required Setup, click Set Up WhatsApp.
- Next to Connect to WhatsApp, select Go to Your Numbers.
- Under WhatsApp Setup, install the WhatsApp Engagement Managed Package.
Connect a WhatsApp Business Account to Account Engagement
- From the Your Numbers page in WhatsApp Setup, add a number.
- Follow the prompts to add a new or existing number.
- Enter the Meta credentials for the Facebook account that you use for business, and then click Next.
- Follow the prompts to register and connect your WhatsApp Business account.
- Enter consent settings for this number.
- After you save the configuration, click Activate.
Other options and features are available to use with WhatsApp messaging, and can be configured on the same Setup page.
Manage WhatsApp Consent
- From the Your Numbers page in WhatsApp Setup, click on a phone number.
- Open the Consent tab, click the Consent Type dropdown, and then select Explicit Opt-In.

Review or update your consent validation settings in Marketing Cloud.
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Channels, and then select WhatsApp.
- Check consent on a communication subscription before sending promotional and transactional messages.
