Assign a Communication Subscription to Business Units

Assign a Communication Subscription to Business Units

When you create a communication subscription, you can assign it to either a single business unit or all business units. All existing subscriptions are assigned to all business units. A subscription’s business unit assignment determines which channels can be added to it and in which business units it can be used.

          Required Editions

Available in: Salesforce Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Marketing Cloud Next Advanced Edition
          User Permissions Needed
To assign communication subscriptions: Marketing Cloud Admin permission set
          1. From the Consent page, select Subscriptions, and then click New Subscription.
If Custom Preference Pages isn’t enabled by your admin, select Preference Pages and Subscriptions.
          2. Select a scope for the subscription:
            1. All Business Units
            2. Single Business Unit: If you select this scope, select the business unit to assign to the subscription.
            Note
Note You can’t edit the scope of a subscription after you create it.
          3. Enter a name for the subscription, such as Product Updates.
          4. Select at least one channel.
If you assign a subscription to all business units, you can add any channel to that subscription. If you assign a subscription to a single business unit, you can add only channels that are assigned to that business unit.
          5. If you selected SMS or WhatsApp as a channel, select at least one sender code or channel number.
          6. Save your work.

If Custom Preference Pages is enabled by your admin, you can create custom preference pages for each channel type and assign it to either a single business unit or all business units. When assigning a custom preference page to a specific business unit, you can only select the business unit that’s associated with the CMS workspace of the preference page.
