Enable First-Party Tracking in Account Engagement

If your business unit was created before February 13, 2023, an admin must enable first-party tracking. Business units created after February 13, 2023 have first-party tracking enabled by default.

To enable first-party cookie tracking: Account Engagement Administrator role

Before you upgrade to first-party tracking, keep these considerations in mind.

          • Review considerations for visitor tracking.
          • Tracker domains using first-party tracking must include a default campaign.
          • For best results, enable third-party cookies during the transition to full first-party tracking.
          • First-party tracking is domain-based and ties your websites to your tracker domains. The default domain go.pardot.com isn’t used with first-party tracking.
          1. Open the settings for your business unit.
            • In Account Engagement, click gear icon and then select Settings.
            • In the Lightning app, select Account Engagement Settings.
          2. Click Edit.
          3. Select Enable first-party tracking.
          4. To accurately attribute visitor activity when an asset’s tracker domain is changed, select Enable third-party cookies.
          5. Save your changes.

Next, configure your existing tracker domains for first-party tracking.
