Integrate your third-party site search to report on prospect queries. Searches on your
website show a prospect’s intent. A prospect searching your site for "pricing" is a more clear
indicator of interest than just a pricing page view. Site search details vary by provider, so
these instructions are general guidelines.
Required Editions
User Permissions Needed
To create a site search:
Account Engagement Administrator or Marketing
role
Open the Site Search page.
In Account Engagement, select Marketing | Site Search.
In the Lightning app, select Content and then Search | Site Search.
Click + Add Site Search.
Name the search.
Click Next.
Set up a redirect URL. Use the instructions that match the URL for your search results
page.
If your URL looks like http://www.site.com?q=search_term.
Enter the redirect URL for your search. Find the URL by searching the page source for
“form action=”.
Select a submit method. Find the method by searching your search form source for
“method=”.
Enter the search query variable. It’s between the “?” and first “=” in the search page
result URL. In the example URL, the variable is “q”.
If your URL looks like
http://www.site.com/example/example/search_term/word/%3834&$/word.
Enter the redirect URL for your search. Find the URL by searching the page source for
“form action=”.
Select a submit method. Find the method by searching your search form source for
“method=”.
Enter the search query variable. Find the variable by searching your search form source
for “name=”.
If your URL looks like
http://www.site.com/example/words/search_term.
Enter the redirect URL for your search. Find the URL by searching the page source for
“form action=”. Append {query} to the URL.
Select a submit method. Find the method by searching your search form source for
“method=”.
Enter the search query variable. Find the variable by searching your search form source
for “name=”.
Click Next.
Review your selections, and click Next.
Copy the post URL.
Click Confirm & Save.
Edit your search page code, and replace the site search form’s action URL with the post URL
that you copied.
When a visitor searches your site, the query is passed to Account Engagement. Then, the
visitor is sent to the redirect URL that you specified in setup.
