          When Prospects Can Receive an Email Template More Than One Time

          Most of the time, it’s possible for a prospect to receive the same email template more than one time. There are a few scenarios in which we prevent prospects from receiving the same email template again.

          Prospects Receive the Same Email Template More Than One Time

          • Engagement Studio program emails—If your business unit was created after December 5, 2012 and the prospect has already received the email template, the program sends them the same email again. To change the default behavior, open Account Engagement Settings and change the Allow email templates to be sent more than once setting.
          • Reusing email templates—If the prospect has already received the email template, the prospect can receive the same email template again.
          • Multiple list email sends—A prospect can receive the same list or one-to-one email twice in separate email sends.
          • Autoresponders—Prospects can receive the same completion action autoresponder email more than one time, but throttling settings affect autoresponders.
          • Multiple prospects with the same email address—In business units that allow multiple prospects with the same email address, prospects with the same email address can receive an email template more than one time. Account Engagement dedupes prospects on single list emails or engagement programs. In that case, the email is sent to the prospect with the most recent Last Activity field value.

          Prospects Receive the Same Email Template Only One Time

          • One list email send:—If a prospect is on more than one list chosen for a list email send, duplicates are removed, and the prospect only receives one email.
          • Engagement Studio program emails—If your business unit was created before December 5, 2012 and a prospect has already received an email template, they can’t receive the same email template again. Even if a prospect is in multiple programs, the prospect is sent only one of each email template from the programs. To change the default behavior, update the Drip/Engagement Programs option in Account Engagement Settings.
