          Automate Data Sharing with Third-Party Apps

          If you use multiple platforms to engage with prospects, connect them to Account Engagement to simplify data sharing and workflows. For each external app that you use, create a marketing app extension in Marketing Setup in Salesforce. You can then take advantage of External Activity and External Actions to supercharge your automations. External Activity captures prospect activity that occurs outside Account Engagement. Use External Actions to automate actions in third-party apps.

            Keep these considerations in mind when working with marketing app extensions and their related objects.
          • How Marketing App Extensions Work
            A marketing app extension represents a third-party app that you use with prospects. You can add activity types or action types to an extension to capture external prospect activity or make external actions available to use in Engagement Studio programs.
          • Create a Marketing App Extension
            A marketing app extension represents a third-party app that you use to work with prospects outside of Account Engagement. We recommend setting up a marketing app extension for each third-party app that you use to interact with prospects and store data. For example, if you have a webinar provider, a video platform, and you send out surveys, set up an extension for each vendor.
          • Assign a Marketing App Extension to a Business Unit
            To flow data through a marketing app extension, associate it with a business unit and at least one activity or action type. Create an assignment for each business unit that you want to have access to the external activity data.
          • Capture External Prospect Activity
            Use external activities to capture important prospect activity that happens outside of Account Engagement. Use the prospect data to enhance your automations and Engagement Studio programs. For example, send an email when a prospect registers for a webinar.
          • Execute External Actions on Prospects
            Use External Actions with Engagement Studio programs to execute tasks outside of Account Engagement. For example, register a prospect for a webinar or create a new lead in Salesforce.
