Considerations for Working with Marketing App Extensions

Keep these considerations in mind when working with marketing app extensions and their related objects.

Available in: Account Engagement Plus, Advanced, and Premium Editions

The first Salesforce admin or designated marketing admin to access marketing app extensions must have the Manage Public List Views user permission. Subsequent users don’t need the permission to work with the feature.
A developer is required to complete the integration for external activities and recommended to customize external actions. See the developer guide for this feature for more information.
Each marketing app extension requires at least one business unit assignment. You can add multiple business unit assignments to a single extension.
You can control which extensions, activities, and actions are available to use in automations by marking them as active.
Data from active external activities is available to use in automation rules, segmentation rules, and Engagement Studio programs. Active external actions are available only in Engagement Studio programs.
The number of active extensions, activities, and actions that you can have at one time depends on your edition.
- Plus—10 active extensions, with 10 active activities and 10 active actions per active extension
- Advanced—20 active extensions, with 20 active activities and 20 active actions per active extension
- Premium—30 active extensions, with 30 active activities and 30 active actions per active extension
