Salesforce Connector Settings
These settings are available when adding or editing the Salesforce connector.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Automatically create prospects in Pardot if they’re created as a Lead or Contact in Salesforce | A prospect is created each time a lead or contact with an email address is created, as long as the record includes an email address that isn't already associated with a prospect. An email address is required on the lead or contact record to sync. This setting isn’t retroactive and creates prospects only for those leads and contacts created after this setting has been enabled. |
| Automatically change email addresses in Pardot to reflect changes in Salesforce | When a lead or contact’s email address is updated in Salesforce, the prospects records are updated. If this setting is disabled and an email address is changed in Salesforce, the associated prospect stops syncing. The next time the prospect syncs to Salesforce, it creates a record based on your connector preference for creating leads or contacts. The new lead or contact syncs with the prospect until the email address changes again. This setting isn’t available in business units that allow multiple prospects with the same email address. |
| Automatically match Salesforce users to users | Automates matching CRM users to Account Engagement users for the Send from Custom CRM User feature. If a Salesforce user has the same email address as an Account Engagement user, the records are matched. |
| Automatically delete or merge prospects if the corresponding records in Salesforce are deleted or merged | If a lead or contact is deleted or merged in Salesforce, the corresponding prospect is deleted or merged. This option isn’t retroactive, so only those prospects who are deleted or merged after the option is enabled are affected. Automatically change email addresses in Pardot to reflect changes in Salesforce must be enabled to use this setting. This setting isn’t available in business units that allow multiple prospects with the same email address. |
| Exclude Salesforce Partner and Customer Portal users from Prospect assignment | Doesn’t list Salesforce Partner and Customer Portal users in the CRM Username dropdown in Account Engagement user records. |
| If records don’t have a CRM ID to match when syncing, use email address to match | Lets the connector use email address as a secondary prospect match criteria. The connector attempts to match records by CRM ID first, but uses an email address when no CRM ID is available. Warning If you use Shield Platform Encryption in Salesforce,
and the standard lead or contact email field is encrypted, enabling this setting causes
sync to stop working. This setting is available only in business units that allow multiple prospects with the same email address. |
| Allow editing of Prospect lists within the CRM | Allows CRM users to add or remove prospects from Account Engagement lists from within the CRM. To use this feature, add the Prospect List Membership Visualforce page to your page layouts. This setting isn’t available in business units that allow multiple prospects with the same email address. |
| Connect to a Salesforce sandbox account | Connect to a Salesforce sandbox instead of a production org. |
| Sync emails with the CRM | Logs a Salesforce task for every email sent to a prospect. This setting isn’t retroactive, and you can’t selectively sync emails. Email syncing uses Salesforce storage space. All emails are synced, which can quickly fill up activity views. Emails are truncated at 32,000 characters. |
| Sync Engage emails with the CRM | Logs a Salesforce task for every email sent to a prospect using Salesforce Engage. This setting isn’t retroactive, and you can’t selectively sync emails. Email syncing uses Salesforce storage space. All emails are synced, which can quickly fill up activity views. Emails are truncated at 32,000 characters. Available for business units with Salesforce Engage. |
| Sync plugin emails with the CRM | Logs a Salesforce task for every email sent to a prospect via an Account Engagement email plug-in. The email activity recorded in Salesforce is attributed to the connector user, not the user who sent the email. This setting isn’t retroactive, and you can’t selectively sync emails. Email syncing uses Salesforce storage space. All emails are synced, which can quickly fill up activity views. Emails are truncated at 32,000 characters. |
| Enable Salesforce emails for task creation | Lets Salesforce send a notification email to your user when a task is created. |
| Enable Salesforce emails for active assignment rules | Lets Salesforce send a notification email to your user when active assignment rules run. These emails are sent from Salesforce. If you don’t specify an email template during assignment rule setup in Salesforce, the emails aren’t sent. |
| Send Pardot notification emails when a merge is synced down from Salesforce | Sends a notification email to your connector user when a lead or contact record is merged in Salesforce and syncs to Account Engagement. Your connector user must be an Account Engagement user to receive these notifications. When a user manually merges prospects, the initiating user receives a merge notification email. |
| Stop syncing Pardot package fields | Prevents AppExchange package fields such as grade and score from syncing to Salesforce, and also prevents use of Send Account Engagement Email and Send to Account Engagement buttons in Salesforce. Note This connector setting only displays for Account Engagement orgs with multiple business
units, and prevents data conflicts when connecting a lead or contact to
prospects records in multiple business units. |
