When you create a campaign, you must also select a business unit to relate to the campaign.

When you create a campaign, keep these business unit considerations in mind:
- If you don’t see the Business Unit dropdown on your campaign page, ask your admin to add it. See Add the Business Unit Field to Your Campaign Page.
- When you relate a flow with a campaign, the flow's data space is automatically populated with the data space of the campaign's business unit.
- When you add a segment to a campaign flow, you can select only the segments that match the data space of the business unit. This ensures that campaigns only target audiences within that specific business unit, maintaining data integrity and compliance.
- When you add content, such as an email, to a campaign or flow, you can select only content from the marketing workspaces in that business unit.
- All new content assets you create are stored in that business unit's default marketing workspace. This content division prevents accidental use of incorrect branding or messaging and ensures that campaigns always align the right content with the right data.
- You can't activate campaign flows in an inactive business unit. To make the content available for campaigns, post it to common assets for use by other active business units.
