Make Assigned Approval Work Items Accessible on a Record Page

Add the Orchestration Work Guide component to the record page layouts for record types referenced by approval steps. Configure the component so that assigned users can access and complete their approval work items.

Required Editions

View supported editions for Flow Approval Processes.
User Permissions Needed
To create and save Lightning pages in the Lightning App Builder: Customize Application
  1. To add the component to a page layout for a record type associated with an approval step, click [Gear icon], and then select Edit Page.
  2. To create a page layout, from Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter App Builder, and then select Lightning App Builder.
    1. Click New
    2. Select Record Page, and then click Next.
    3. Give your record page a label, and then click Next.
      The label can be up to 80 characters.
    4. Select a page template, and click Finish.
  3. Under Components, drag Orchestration Work Guide onto the page layout.
    1. (Optional) For Title, enter a name for the component to show users at run time.
    2. (Optional) For Sort Order, select the default sort order for approval work items.
    3. (Optional) To show the name of the running flow approval process for each work item, select Show Orchestration Run Name.
    4. (Optional) To show the flow approval process stage name for each approval work item, select Show Orchestration Stage Name.
    5. (Optional) To show the flow approval process step name for each approval work item, select Show Orchestration Step Name.
    6. (Optional) To hide the component when the user has no assigned work items, select Hide Work Guide When Empty.
    7. (Optional) To open the next work item from the same running flow approval process after a user completes an approval work item, select Automatically Open Next Work Item.
      The default behavior is that the component shows a refreshed list of work items after a user completes a work item.
  4. Save your work.
  5. If the page layout isn’t activated, the Page Saved window appears and asks to activate the page.
