Add the Request Approval Component to a Record Page

Add the Request Approvals component to a record page layout in Lightning App Builder. Submitters can submit a record for approval by using the component. Configure the component so that submitters can select an approver and add submission comments.

To customize record page layouts in Lightning App Builder: Customize Application

Before you add the Request Approval component to a record page layout, design an autolaunched flow approval process. Consider the input that you want from submitters. To require submitters to select an approver, assign one or more approval steps to the firstApprover resource. To expose optional submitter comments to approvers, use the submissionComments resource. Test and activate the flow approval process.

          1. Open the record page where you want to place the component.
          2. On the navigation bar, click [Gear icon], and select Edit Page.
The record page layout opens in Lightning App Builder.
          3. From the Components tab, in the quick find box, search for Request.
          4. Drag the Request Approval to a location on the record page layout.
            The Request Approval panel opens.
          5. (Optional) For Title, change the default text of Request Approval to the component title to show users at run time.
          6. For Flow Approval Process, search for and select the active, autolaunched flow approval process to run when the user clicks Start.
          7. For Flow Approval Process Label, enter a label to identify the associated flow approval process to users.
          8. To prevent the submitter from adding comments about a submission, select Hide submitter comments. The component shows an Approval Request Comments field by default.
          9. To require the submitter to select an approver, select Require submitter to select an approver.

Consider whether the flow approval process you selected in step 6 assigns one or more steps to the firstApprover resource. If it does, select Require submitter to select an approver to prevent the flow approval process from failing when a submitter uses this component.

          10. Save and activate the record page layout.
          11. Exit Lightning App Builder.
