Send an Email from a Process

Important Support and updates for Process Builder have ended as of December 31, 2025. This means that support won't be provided for any process and bugs in the Process Builder product won't be fixed. See Workflow Rules & Process Builder End of Support.

After December 31, 2025, existing processes continue to run, and you can activate, deactivate, and edit them; however, we recommend using Flow Builder. To migrate existing processes, plan your switch to Flow Builder and use the Migrate to Flow tool. For new automations, create flows in Flow Builder.

Before you begin:

• Make sure that the email alert you want to call from your process exists. If not, create the email alert.
• Understand the daily limits for emails sent from email alerts.

You can use only email alerts that are associated with the same object that the process is associated with. The record that started the process is used as the starting point for any merge fields that are used in the email alert.

After you’ve created an action and selected “Email Alerts” for the type, fill in the relevant fields to add the action to your process.
