            To access emails, events, and contacts from Exchange, Salesforce makes these calls via Exchange Web Services (EWS).

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience
            Available with Einstein Activity Capture Standard in Sales in Starter, Pro Suite, Professional, and Enterprise Editions
            Available with Unlimited Edition, Einstein 1 Sales Edition, and Agentforce 1 Edition
            Available with Einstein for Sales, which is included in Einstein 1 Sales Edition and available for an extra cost in Enterprise and Unlimited Editions
            Available with Sales Engagement, which is included with Sales in Performance and Unlimited Editions, and available for an extra cost in Professional and Enterprise Editions
            Available with Revenue Intelligence, which is available for an extra cost in Enterprise and Unlimited Editions

            EWS API Call Description
            CreateFolder Creates a folder in Exchange
            CreateItem Creates a contact or event in Exchange. The Salesforce record ID is added to the Exchange item properties.
            DeleteItem Deletes contacts or events based on the Salesforce record ID
            FindFolder Finds a folder in Exchange
            FindItem Finds a contact or event based on the given search parameters
            GetEvents Accesses information about Exchange events
            GetFolder Accesses a folder from Exchange
            GetItem Accesses information about a contact or event in Exchange
            GetServerTimeZones Returns information from time zone definitions that are available on the Exchange server
            SyncFolderItems Returns all changed contacts and events with requested fields
            UpdateItem Modifies one or more contact or events with new field data
            Note
            Note Microsoft is retiring EWS for Microsoft Office 365 in October 2026. We recommend upgrading the Microsoft Office 365 authentication from EWS to Microsoft Graph.
