          Create Rules for Record Assignments

          Distribute records to reps based on their areas of responsibility, such as industry, locale, and number of employees. Assign records using rules and criteria that you define in Legacy Sales Planning.

          Required Editions

          Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
          Available for an additional cost in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions with Sales Planning in English only, and only if you have Web Services API enabled
          User Permissions Needed
          To assign records using rule logic:

          Data Pipelines Base User permission set license

          Data Pipelines Base User permission set

          AND

          Sales Planning permission set

          Feature is scheduled for retirement as of Summer'26. See Sales Planning version 1 Retirement

          1. Open your sales plan, and then click Edit Plan | Assignment.
          2. Click Add Rules | New. Then enter the rule name and add its criteria.

          3. Preview the proposed assignments based on the rule and its criteria. If the proposed assignments based on your rules and criteria appear the way you want, click Apply.
          4. Add, preview, and apply any other rules and criteria according to your assignment requirements.
            Sales Planning assigns records within your hierarchy based on the rules that you established.
