Semantic Models in Sales Insights
Sales Insights uses three semantic models that work together to provide analytics capabilities while enabling customization. Understanding the three-layer semantic model structure helps you customize your analytics while preserving the core Sales Insights functionality.

C360 Semantic Model
The C360 Semantic Model is the foundation layer that provides core Salesforce objects and fields. Installing the C360 Semantic Model is a prerequisite to creating your Sales Insights app. This model is maintained by Salesforce and can’t be edited. Sales Insights
The Sales Insights semantic model provides Sales Insights-specific objects, metrics, and calculated fields, including forecasting assets used by the Forecast version of Sales Insights. The model is part of the Sales Insights workspace. This model is also locked and can’t be edited.
Extended Sales Insights
Extended Sales Insights is an editable copy of the Sales Insights semantic model that is unlocked, allowing you to make customizations. In the Extended Sales Insights semantic model, all of the Sales Insights objects, metrics, and calculated fields are included by reference. At the same time, all of the Sales Insights dashboards are built upon this extended model.
The Extended Sales Insights semantic model is the layer that allows you to customize your Sales Insights app. In the Extended Sales Insights model, you can add custom fields, metrics, and objects specific to your business needs. You can also make changes to Sales Insights dashboards and the metrics and visualizations within them. When Salesforce updates the C360 Semantic Model or Sales Insights, your customizations remain intact in this separate layer.
