Enable and Configure Sales Insights
Overview the steps to get started with Sales Insights. The steps here reflect the Sales Insights Setup page, where you have a guided experience to lead you through the process. For more information about any of the steps, click the Learn More links included here.

Important Before beginning, complete these steps:
- Review the prerequisites and get your data ready for Sales Insights. See Requirements and Considerations for Setting up Sales Insights.
- Assign the Sales Insights Admin permission to your admin user. This is the user who will configure and deploy Sales Insights.
From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Sales Insights, and then select Sales Insights. Each of these steps maps to the steps on the Sales Insights Setup page.
- Verify that you’ve set up Data 360 with your Salesforce CRM connection. To complete this process, click Go to Setup. Learn more.
- Deploy one or more data kits. When Forecasting isn’t enabled, deploy the Sales Insights Data Kit. When Forecasting is enabled in your org, deploy the Forecasting Data Kit and install and deploy the Unmanaged Data Kit. Learn more.
- Verify that you’ve installed the C360 Semantic Model. To complete this process, click Go to Setup. Learn more.
- Confirm that the Tableau Included App Manager permission set is included in your System Admin profile. To go to the Permission Set page, click Assign. Learn more.
- Confirm that the Data Cloud Architect permission set is included in your System Admin profile. To go to the Permission Set page, click Assign. Learn more.
- Create the Sales Insights app. Click Start and follow the on-screen instructions for options such as forecasting and installing in additional data spaces. Learn more.
- Assign the Tableau Next Limited Consumer permission set to your users. Every Sales Insights user needs this permission set. To go to the Permission Set page, click Assign. Learn more.
- Assign the Data Cloud User permission set. Every Sales Insights user also needs this permission set. To go to the Permission Set page, click Assign. Learn more.
- Create a Data 360 Salesforce CRM Connection for Sales Insights
Step 1 for setting up Sales Insights is to verify that your Salesforce org is connected in Data 360. - Deploy the Data Kit(s) for Sales Insights
Step 2 for setting up Sales Insights is to deploy the data kits for the data you want to use. You have the option to base Sales Insights upon Opportunity-based data, or if you have enabled Forecasting in your org, you can base Sales Insights upon Forecasting data. - Install the C360 Semantic Model
Step 3 for setting up Sales Insights is to verify that the C360 Semantic Model is installed. The C360 Semantic Model is a unified semantic model that serves as a central foundation to define and manage metrics derived from standard Salesforce objects. It defines the relationships between Sales Insights objects. - Configure the Sales Insights Admin Permission Sets
Steps 4 and 5 for setting up Sales Insights is to confirm that the correct permission sets are assigned to the admin user. To manage Sales Insights, the Tableau Included App Manager permission set and the Data Cloud Architect permission set are both required. - Create the Sales Insights App
Step 6 for setting up Sales Insights is to create the Sales Insights app. Follow on-screen instructions that allow you to specify the data to use and the data space where to install your app. - Configure Sales Insights User Permission Sets
Steps 7 and 8 for setting up Sales Insights are to confirm that the correct permission sets are assigned to your Sales Insights users. To view Sales Insights dashboards, every user needs both the Tableau Next Limited Consumer permission set and the Data Cloud User permission set.
