Recommended Data Mapping Prerequisite for Salesforce Spiff

Recommended Data Mapping Prerequisite for Salesforce Spiff

Before you import data from Salesforce or a third-party data source into Salesforce Spiff, create a data mapping spreadsheet that lists all objects and fields that you plan to sync. Make sure that you collaborate with all required stakeholders and receive approval for your design before you set up the connectors and sync data.

          Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions
Available for an additional cost in: Professional Edition with Web Services API Enabled

Download the template data mapping spreadsheet, or create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet in .xlsx format from scratch.

The spreadsheet must have a tab named Data Mapping, with these required columns. Depending on your company’s needs, you can add other columns.

          Column Value
Plan The name of a Spiff commission plan to sync data for.
Rule The name of a Spiff payout rule to sync data for. If you don’t know what rule to use, you can leave the Rule value blank.
Object/Table Name The name of the object or data table from your source system to sync. The terms object and table are used interchangeably.
Field Name The user-friendly label for the field that contains the data to sync.
API Name The programmatic name for the field that contains the data to sync.
Data Type The format for the data that’s synced into Spiff, which can be different from the format for the data in your source system. For example, Boolean values in Spiff must be true or false, but some source systems use 0 and 1 for Boolean values.
Source System The name of your source system.
Notes Comments to add for historical tracking.
