Create a Payout Rule
From Salesforce Spiff Designer, create a payout rule for a commission plan.

- From a commission plan in Designer, click New Payout Rule.
- Name the rule and specify the field that contains the commission calculation.
- Optionally, set the Effective As Of or Effective Until dates, which determine when a rule is visible and pays commission to reps on the assigned plan.
You can organize and manage payout rules in several ways.
- Sort the payout rules alphanumerically. For example, to arrange the rules in a particular order, you can prefix them with a number and then sort them in ascending order.
- Control whether reps can see a plan or not by turning the Hide Plans setting on or off.
- Set a payout rule as a What-If? rule or ghost rule. A What-If? rule lets you show hypothetical calculations to a rep without affecting their commission total. Ghost rules let you work on a new rule that isn’t visible to reps and doesn’t affect commission totals. These rules have unique icons that appear next to their names.
