Build Your Synonym Groups
A search for one term in a synonym group returns results for all terms in the group. For example, a search for thumb drive returns results for flash drive and memory stick when these three terms are in a synonym group.
There are two types of synonym groups.
Standard synonyms: Common English language synonym groups compiled and made available to all orgs for Salesforce Knowledge entities. Standard synonyms are enabled by default.
Custom synonym groups: Synonyms created specifically for an org by the admin. You can create custom synonym groups for these objects:
- Case
- Chatter Feed
- File
- Knowledge Article
- Idea
- Question
- Service Appointment
- Service Resource
- Service Territory
- Work Order
- Work Order Line Item
To set up synonym groups:
- From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Synonyms, and then select Synonyms. You can’t edit or view standard groups. You can only disable all standard synonyms.
- To create a custom synonym group, click New in Custom Synonym Groups. You can create up to 10,000 synonym groups with up to six terms in each group.
