          Create a Configuration Item

          A configuration item (CI) represents a physical or virtual asset in your IT environment. Create CI manually when setting up Configuration Management Database (CMDB) or when you need to capture a new asset that isn’t detected through discovery.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
          Available in: Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with Agentforce IT Service that have CMDB and Service Graph enabled.
          User Permissions Needed
          To create configuration items (CIs): IT Service Configuration Item Owner
          1. From the App Launcher, find and select CMDB and Service Graph.
          2. In the navigation panel, select Configuration Items, and then select All Configuration Items.
          3. Click New.
          4. Provide these details:
            Field Description
            Name Enter a name that clearly identifies the asset.
            Owner Search and select the user responsible for the asset.
            Configuration Item Type Select the type of CI, such as Windows Host, AWS EC2 Instance, or Linux Server.
          5. Click Save.

          The configuration item appears in the All Configuration Items list. You can view CIs that you own in the My Configuration Items list.
