          Archive Articles and Translations

Archiving removes published articles and translations that are obsolete so they no longer display to support reps and customers on your organization's Salesforce Knowledge channels.

          Required Editions

Available in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience. View supported editions.

You can archive published articles and translations on the Article Management tab. You can choose to archive either real time (now) or schedule the archival.

Articles you're archiving now move directly to the Archived Articles view. Articles you scheduled for archiving later continue to display on the Published Articles view, now with the pending icon (an orange clock). Hover over the icon to see the archive date. On the archive date, the article automatically moves to the Archived Articles view.

          Note
          Note
          • Conflicts can occur when different support reps perform actions on the same articles simultaneously. Depending on who performs the action first, the articles will not be available for subsequent users though the articles still display momentarily in the articles list. Performing an action on these articles results in a conflict error.
          • If you edit a published article that is scheduled for archiving, you also cancel the archiving.
          • If an article has a published translation with a draft version, on archive, the draft version is deleted.
          • Archiving a Knowledge article in Lightning Experience also permanently deletes any published translations of the article.
          • You can't archive an article's primary version when it still has an associated draft version.
          Tip
Tip To cancel a scheduled archive, click Cancel Archive on the article detail page.
