Use the WhatsApp channel data storage region feature to specify the geographical
location where your data must be stored and processed due to legal or regulatory requirements.
As an admin, you can view and change the data residency region for WhatsApp channels by
deactivating the WhatsApp channel.
Enhanced In-App Chat, Enhanced Web Chat v1, Enhanced Web Chat v2, Standard and
Enhanced Facebook Messenger, Standard and Enhanced SMS, Enhanced Apple Messages for
Business, Enhanced LINE, and Bring Your Own Channel
Deactivating your channel will stop all messaging traffic immediately. Here’s what you
need to know:
You won't be able to respond to any incoming messages.
Any inactive messaging sessions will end after 48 hours of inactivity.
Your reps can close active sessions.
Don't worry, you can reactivate your channel at any time. Once deactivated, you can
update your data storage region.
Note
Deactivation and data storage region modification aren’t available for unified
channels.
For a few UCP WhatsApp channels, you may see the error: Unable to display Data
Storage Region. This is because of a known technical issue that temporarily
prevents our system from retrieving and showing this specific piece of information. This
is a display issue only and has no impact on core functionality, such as channel
activation, messaging, or your channel's compliance with data storage policies. We are
aware of the issue and are working on a solution.
To modify the data storage region.
From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Messaging Settings and
select Messaging Settings.
Under All Channels, click the WhatsApp channel name for which you want to change the
data storage region.
Click Deactivate Channel and then click
Deactivate.
Under Data Storage Region, click .
From the picklist, select your data storage region.
Click Save.
