Initial Field Values in the Field Service Mobile App

Initial Field Values in the Field Service Mobile App

The initial value shown in a field when running a quick action depends on several factors.

          Required Editions

Available in: both Salesforce Classic (not available in all orgs) and Lightning Experience
The Field Service core features, managed package, and mobile app are available in Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.
To access the Field Service mobile app, users need the Field Service Mobile user license.

When running a quick action from the mobile app, like for creating a work order, it can be difficult to identify where initial field values come from. Fields can have default values that you can find using Object Manager. Also, quick actions can have predefined values for fields. We try to use a predefined value as the initial value, and only use a different value when no predefined value exists or when offline.

The following table lists the initial field values given different criteria.

Action Does a Predefined Value Exist? Initial Online Value Initial Offline Value
Create a new record Yes Predefined Value* None
          No Default Value None
Update an existing record Yes Predefined Value* Existing Value
          No Existing Value Existing Value

          * Predefined values can contain formulas. A blank value appears if the server can’t resolve the formula.
