            Set Up ArcGIS for Native GIS

            To use maps in the Field Service mobile app, first assign licenses. Then, create feature layers in the ArcGIS online portal. Finally, assign them to maps, and define the authentication to use to access the map.

            Required Editions

            Available in: Lightning Experience.
            Available in: Enterprise Edition with the Asset Service Lifecycle Management add-on license, or in Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.
            1. Assign the following Esri licenses to access the ArcGIS online portal:
              • Each mobile worker needs a Mobile Worker user type license to generate location data to create or update records in Salesforce.
              • The connector and the Admin need a single ArcGIS Creator user type license to update records in the ArcGIS portal and to build ArcGIS online web maps.
            2. Create one or more hosted feature layers. Consider what data you want to display, how you want to display it, and who should have access to it. Each hosted feature layer can contain multiple layers. Feature layers can either provide data from an external source, or display Salesforce data, by using the Salesforce connector. See Hosted feature layers.
              1. If you are using a Native GIS connector, select Enable editing, and then select Add, Delete and Update. See Manage hosted feature layer editing.
              2. In the Data tab, for each layer that displays a Salesforce object, click Add Field and define the following fields:

                salesforce_record_id_c and salesforce_object_name_c as Text datatypes.

                salesforce_lastmodified_date_c as a Date datatype.

              3. To use the map in offline mode, make sure that Enable sync is selected on the Settings tab of the hosted feature layer's item page. This is necessary regardless of the data type that the feature layer displays. See Allow offline editing or collaboration.
            3. Create a web map. See How to create a map with ArcGIS online portal.
              1. Add a default basemap.
              2. Add the required feature layers.
              3. In the Offline tab, make sure that the map is compatible for offline use. See Take web maps offline.
              Note
              Note If the service appointment lacks coordinates, the app uses the position and scale that is shown when you save the map.
            4. Define whether to use app or user authentication to allow access to map content and location services in the ArcGIS portal. See Authentication comparison and App authentication for online users. These options are available.
              • User authentication for mobile workers: Use this option for all mobile workers, to allow them to log in with their own credentials. As a "Named User" your specific permissions control what you can see and do. This method can also be used by connectors.
                Important
                Important Make sure that you define authenticate-with-oauth://auth as the redirect URL to use for authenticating the mobile worker when they log into the map for the first time.
              • App authentication for the connectors: Use this option to identify the application itself as the entity to run background processes, and to provide public access when you don’t need users to sign in.
            5. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret that you receive. You'll need these details for setting up the authentication in Salesforce.
