Configure Your Audio Device and Incoming Work Notifications
If you receive phone calls on the wrong audio device, change the device. Also, to
ensure that you don't miss an incoming work item in Omni-Channel, enable audible signals. In
case you navigate away from the Omni-Channel component window, set up visual notifications as
well.
To change the audio device, click the Settings icon on the Omni-Channel component and
choose your preferred devices under Input and Output.
The devices you choose are set only for your current browser. For example, if you
choose a device for Google Chrome, that device isn’t set for Mozilla Firefox. This feature
isn’t available in the Apple Safari browser. By default, phone calls are taken through the
same speakers and microphone your system device uses.
Tip Selecting audio
devices in the Omni-Channel Settings doesn't guarantee their use. To troubleshoot audio
device output or input issues, check browser and computer audio settings. For more help,
contact your Salesforce admin, Salesforce Voice telephony provider, or IT
rep.
To be notified about new work, turn on settings in the operating system and browser
applications so that you can receive the notifications.
To see visual alerts, click the Settings icon in the Omni-Channel component, and then
turn on Show new work notifications in the browser.
When a new work item is assigned and the browser window isn’t in focus, you receive
the alert.
To choose a preferred device for receiving notification sounds from Omni-Channel, click
the Settings icon again and, under Ringer Output, choose the device.
The device you choose is only set for your current browser. For example, if you choose
a device for Google Chrome, that device isn’t set for Mozilla Firefox. This feature isn’t
available in Apple’s Safari browser.
To check for the expected Ringer Output sound, click Test Notification
Sound.
