Group List Page

The Groups page displays a list of the Chatter groups in your company.

Available in: Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
Available in: Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Developer, and Contact Manager Editions

Click Groups on the sidebar of the Chatter page to display a list of the Chatter groups in your company. On the Groups page, you can

Create a group
To open a New Group dialog and create your group, click New Group.
Filter and sort the groups list
Use the following filters to filter your groups.
  • Recently Viewed and Recently Viewed Groups show the groups that you recently looked at, starting with the group you viewed last
  • My Groups shows the groups that you belong to, own, or manage
  • Active Groups shows the active groups in your company
  • My Archived Groups shows the archived groups that you belong to, own, or manage.
Note
Note In Lightning Experience, click the pin view icon Pin view icon to pin a selected list view. The pinned view becomes your default view until you unpin it.
To sort the list, click a column header.
  • The Group column sorts by group name.
  • The Last Activity column sorts by the date of the last post or comment on a group.
  • The Membership column sorts based on your membership status.
Search for a group
Search for groups by entering two or more letters of a group name or description in the Find Groups box. The list automatically filters based on what you type.
View a group
To view a group, click its name. You can view all groups, but you see only updates and files for public groups and private groups that you belong to. Groups that allow customers display the parenthetical (With Customers).
Join a public group or ask to join a private group
To join a public group, click Join. For private groups, click Ask to Join to send a request to join to the group's owner and managers. Users with the Modify All Data permission can directly join private groups; so they see Join for private groups.
Leave a group or withdraw a request for membership
To leave a group or to withdraw a request to join a group, click blue X button.
View the group owner’s profile
To see a group owner’s profile, Click the group owner's name.
Get a group recommendation
View the groups that Chatter recommends that you join in the Recommendations section. Recommendations are based on a group's popularity and the number of people that you follow who are in the group. To see the full list of recommendations, click More. If you don't see recommendations, then you already belong to all the recommended groups.
