After installing the Salesforce Backup & Recover Next app and assigning permissions, configure various settings for your backups.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with the Backup & Recover Data and Backup & Recover Files add-on licenses
          • Exclude Objects from Backups
Set up exclusion rules to customize and optimize your backup strategy. These rules define which Salesforce objects to exclude from backups, minimizing backup time and ensuring that backups only include essential data. Also use these rules to exclude data from your backup to conform with data security policies.
          • Exclude Object Groups
Within Backup & Recover Next are different object groups that we recommend excluding. When creating an exclusion rule, you can select to exclude these groups, rather than exclude each object individually.
          • Include Objects or Object Groups
Remove exclusion rules that you created to include objects or object groups in future backups.
          • Exclude Files and Attachments from Backups
Backing up files and attachments makes sure that backups are as true and accurate as possible for recovery. If backups aren’t necessary in your case, you can remove them for improved backup times.
          • Schedule When Your Backup Runs
Choose when you want your backups to run to minimize the impact on your business.
          • Understand Backup Retention
A data retention policy describes how long to keep data to meet business or legal requirements. You can configure these policies to align with your organization’s internal requirements for data backups and control how long Salesforce stores your backups.
