Configure Salesforce Backup Settings

After installing the Salesforce Backup app and assigning permissions, configure a secure connection between the app and Salesforce.

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with the Salesforce Backup & Recover add-on license.

To install the Salesforce Backup managed package:

Before you start, make sure that you have the necessary permission set license and permission set. Read more in Assign the Salesforce Backup License and Permission Set.

  1. In the Salesforce Backup app, click the Settings tab.
  2. In the Provision a Region section, from the dropdown menu, select the AWS region where you want to store your backups. When selecting a region, keep in mind any data residency requirements that apply to your organization.

  3. If you have no IP restrictions, click Start. However, if you do have IP restrictions:
    1. Add the IP address for the Salesforce Backup provisioning API (3.219.91.219) to the Login IP Ranges on your profile, and then click Start.
      When provisioning is finished, an IP Addresses section appears on the page. It lists IP addresses that are specific to the AWS region that you selected.
    2. Add the IP addresses in the IP Addresses section to the Login IP Ranges for your user profile.
  4. In the Set Up Your Connection section, click Connect. This action creates a secure connection by using OAuth 2.0 Web Server Flow between Salesforce and the data storage location in AWS.
  5. Click Test Connection.

    Testing a connection triggers a scheduled job on behalf of the integrated user.

    When the test is successful, you're ready to create a backup policy.
